A recent conversation with my sisters-in law:

Sarah to me: “I love your casual shoes. I need to get some cute casual shoes.”

Me: “Well, I love your boots. You always seem to find the most stylish boots. And I wish I had some flats like Brittany’s, especially with Spring just around the corner.”

Brittany: “Thanks. You know, since we all love the different styles of each other’s shoes, I think we need to go shoe shopping together and help one another pick out great shoes.”

When my husband overhears conversations like this he says, “Can you imagine me talking to our brothers-in-law like that?

Him: “Hey Brian, I love your tennis shoes. I need to get me some cute tennis shoes like that.”

Brian: “Well, I love your work boots. You always seem to find the most stylish work boots. And I wish I had some basketball shoes like Justin’s, especially with Spring just around the corner.”

Justin: “Thanks. You know, since we all love the different styles of each other’s shoes, I think we need to go shoe shopping together and help one another pick out great shoes.”

At our family gatherings the men don’t like that. But the women do, and so when Brittany suggested we go shoe shopping together, I took her up on it.

Well, kind of.
